Foreign missions of 601st Special Forces Group

Members of the 601st Special Forces Group participated in many foreign missions. First unit members were deployed to operation Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia in 1990. This deployment was followed deployments to operations IFOR, SFOR, KFOR on territory of former Yugoslavia. In 1999 the 6th Special Forces Company was first unit of Czech Armed Forces deployed to the territory of Kosovo. This unit established excellent bases for operations of other Czech Army units on this territory.

In 2004 601st SFG was deployed to operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. This mission was first combat operation conducted by the Czech Army since the end of World War II and members of 601st SFG were later deployed to the same operation in 2006, 2008 and 2009. The highest representatives of Government, Parliament, Army as well as coalition partners highly regard the 601st SFG for its superb achievements in these operations and the unit is firmly placed among the elite group of world special forces.
