the Memorial Medal is awarded by the Commander of the 601st SFG to active members of the unit (Special Forces Command Headquarters - SFCHQ) and other individuals for their discernible contribution to building and efficiency of the 601st SFG.
The Memorial Medal comes in four classes - First Class being the highest. The first three classes of the Medal are awarded to the active servicemen of the 601st SFG and to the members of the SFCHQ. for excellent service, after they had completed the qualifying period of service, the initial eligibility service date being 1 January 2005.The period of basic military training - if served at the 601st SFG - will be included in computing the eligibility for the Medal.
The Fourth Class of the Medal may be granted to any individual out of active duty who has made discernible contribution to building and efficiency of the 601st SFG.
The award approval authority rests solely with the Commander's Awards Board and the appropriate class of the Medal is awarded by the order of the Commander, usually once a year on the 601st SFG Remembrance Day , the 9 May - the day when the Unit was awarded its Combat Flag.
